Synopsis :
The purpose of the paper is to
explore the role of Basic sciences in the development of nurses. Since the
profession has moved into higher education, diversity has developed in the
amount, depth and methods of science teaching in nursing and midwifery courses.
It has been observed that nurse educators themselves are concerned about the
difficulty of linking the study of basic sciences directly to nursing theory
and practice. In this paper it is discussed that one needs to see closely the
contributions of the basic sciences to nursing education.
